Introduction

The AS/A2 Level PE and Sport course has been designed to facilitate employment in the sport, leisure and tourism sector – the knowledge, skills and understanding from this qualification positions candidates strongly for employment in a range of roles in this dynamic and growing employment sector.

Course Content

  1. Scientific principles of PE and SPORT:
    • Applied anatomy and physiology.
    • Exercise physiology and applied movement analysis.
  2. Psychological and social principles of PE and SPORT:
    • Skill acquisition.
    • Sports psychology.
    • Sport and society.
  3. Practical performance.
  4. Performance analysis and performance development program.

Assessment

  1. Examination paper (2 hours 30 minutes) /140 marks [40%]
  2. Examination paper (2 hours 30 minutes) /100 marks [30%]
  3. Coursework [15%] Centre assessed and externally moderated.
  4. Coursework [15%] Centre assessed and externally moderated.
